A trip below Aruba's crystal-clear,
azure blue waterline is an opportunity to discover the diversity of
Aruba's underwater world. Schools of yellowtail snapper against
mountainous star coral is the sight most often seen but certainly
not the only one. Rare frogfish, sea turtles and stingrays also
inhabit this world, near the reefs and along the island's 17 miles
of shoreline. How you choose to visit these sites is completely up
to you - of Aruba's two dozen prime scuba diving sites many are
accessible right from the shore, including wreck dives and deep
dives up to 120 feet. Drift diving is also another popular feature
in Aruba, allowing divers to ride the current past a kaleidoscope of
colors created by tropical fish of all shapes against different
coral formations.
The diversity and beauty of Aruba's marine ecosystem is always
available for viewing by divers as well as snorkelers. Though there
are slight differences as a result of seasonal changes, Aruba
maintains a warm underwater environment in the high 70ºF to low 80ºF
and visibility between 60 and 100 feet, allowing even snorkelers to
visit and enjoy wrecks such as Antilla, a 60-foot dive. Couples of
witch only one is certified to dive can therefore still travel
together to the same sites and enjoy similar adventures.
